How Mummy Found Elmar, Our Very First Steiff!

Happy Teddy Tales Tuesday, everyone!

Today I am going to tell you a very big story about a grand adventure, a little bit of worry, and a whole lot of magic. Everyone, please get cosy and listen to how Elmar, mummy’s very first Steiff bear, came to live with us in My Miniature World! 

It all started back in March, when mummy went on a big trip to London and the Cotswolds. Now, as you all know, I am the lead adventurer, and I usually travel everywhere with my mummy. But London is different. Mummy is always super-duper afraid of taking me there because she is terrified that I might get teddynapped!

You see, a couple of years ago, Mummy had a very bad experience where her bag was totally emptied by naughty people without her even noticing or feeling a thing. Imagine if I had been inside?! Mummy would be completely crushed if anything ever happened to me. So, to keep me safe and sound, I stay behind in the dollhouses whenever she visits London.

Even though I stay home, mummy and I have always been completely intrigued by the famous German brand, Steiff. We had never actually met one in person, but we heard all about how special they are! Steiff bears have a giant history going back to 1902 when Richard Steiff created the very first jointed teddy bear. They are so special that every single authentic bear gets a famous "Button in Ear" to show they are a true treasure!

Well, after London, mummy went to visit the beautiful Cotswolds, and she stopped at a lovely little gift shop in Bourton-on-the-Water. While she was roaming around the shop, looking at all the wonderful things, she turned around and saw a whole display of teddy bears. And right there, for the very first time in her life, Mummy got to see a real Steiff bear!

She was so excited! There he was, Elmar, looking straight back at her. Mummy says it was like pure magic, as if his little eyes could speak right to her heart. She picked him up, held her very first Steiff in her arms, and knew right then and there that he absolutely had to come home with her.

Elmar turned out to be a very clingy little boy! He has the sweetest character and just loves to be held and hugged all the time. Because he is so affectionate, he spent the rest of the trip traveling everywhere right in mummy's arms, keeping her company since I couldn't be there.

When mummy finally arrived back home, I was super-duper excited to meet him! I wasn't jealous at all because the second I saw him, I totally fell in love with his incredibly soft, golden fur. Elmar is a classic Steiff favourite, made with a wonderful textured cuddly plush that makes him perfect for endless squeezes.

Once we got him settled into the dollhouse, Elmar told me later that he was a little bit shy at first. He whispered to me that he isn't a rare limited edition bear or anything like that. But I gave him a giant squeeze and told him that it doesn't matter even one little bit! He doesn't need a special limited number to be precious. To mummy and me, he is the most rare and important bear in the world because he is the one who captured mummy's heart first!

He is the bear who started mummy's whole Steiff collection, and I totyadores him! He is our sweet, golden, clingy big brother.
